"If you're strong enough, there are no precedents."

 F Scott Fitzgerald

On January 10, 2010 I became a World Record Holder by lifting 75 pounds plus my bodyweight (one pull-up).  I will be trying for many more pull-up records in 2010 but I am happy to be a World Record holder right now.

On May 16th, 2009 I attempted to break the World Record in wide grip pull-ups.  I did 349 pull-ups although TEAM CRYSTAL thought that 9 were of poor quality, so I did 340 and the Women's Record is currently 345.  I missed it by five.  I was disappointed in my performance in that I have done much more in training, but I learned a lot from the event and will definitely try again.  I know what issues I had some technical, some tactical, and some training, and I will be addressing all three areas and will come back STRONGER AND MORE DETERMINED.

PULL-UPS I DO: One arm pull-ups (OK, they are assisted but always a crowd pleaser), close grip chins, (the bread and butter...good for your arms), semi supinated close grip (I can literally do these all day long they are so easy for me), wide grip pull-ups (no two ways about it the BAD ASS of the pull-up world), traveling pull-ups (like when you were a kid and you traveled across the bars), legs pointed to the ceiling pull-ups (great for working the romboids extra hard), legs up and pointed horizontally from your waist pull-ups (these are hard and work your core too)...see photos in the gallery).

WHY:
Two years and five months ago I decided I needed a new challenge in the gym and that was going to be pull-ups.  I could only do two wide grip pull-ups unassisted the first time I tried.  What a sissy right?  So, I vowed to myself I would do 10, and then 15, and then 20.  Then, as I achieved each goal I became more motivated and started doing mixed grip pull-ups for 80 minutes at a time.  That is, supersets of wide grip, chins, and semi-supinated grip.  I can now perform 1,210 mixed grip pull-ups in 80 minutes.  It took me two years to achieve that goal.  My next set of goals is to post as many World Records as possible for timed pull-ups during the next two to four years.  I will be starting in May of this year and am looking forward to shattering any preconceived notions about athletic ability due to age or sex.....
